I have been part of Bexleyheath Community Church since it started roughly 20 years ago. I came along with my parents to start with but I made a commitment to God – and this church – in 1992. In 2000, when I was 21, I was diagnosed with cancer in my left knee. Although it was a devastating blow, I had confidence in God that, whatever happened, I would be ok.

I had six chemotherapy cycles and an operation on my leg. Five months later, I was given the all-clear. In 2003 I was again diagnosed with cancer, this time in my lungs. Following a double thoracotomy I was once more told it was gone. Roll on July 2004 and the cancer returned in my right lung. The same operation was performed, and I was in the clear for the third time. Three months later, the cancer returned with a vengeance and the doctors told me I had six months to live.

Thanks to God’s goodness, I’m still here to tell my story. For the long version, watch the video below!

I’ve been at Bexleyheath Community Church for a number of years. Everyone there feels like part of my extended family; I am loved and cared for and it’s great to be part of the community. I particularly enjoy contributing in any way I can in the church – it keeps me out of mischief and has also has helped me to develop my potential.

I also love the Tuesday coffee mornings (we call it Growing Old Disgracefully). This gives us the opportunity to serve the wider community.

Bexleyheath Community Church is a place where we find a tremendously supportive family of friends, where we meet with and worship a loving God and work out our Christian lives by serving others.

The church also helps us bring up our children with excellent youth clubs, plus parenting and relationship support. It’s a place we can invite our friends and convey the Good News of Jesus to the local community in Bexleyheath and Barnehurst.

We want everyone to know the good news of Jesus, because it sets people free and transforms their lives. Have a look around our website and I’m sure you’ll begin to see how.

I’ve been at Bexleyheath Community Church my whole life and I love it. Not only have I been able to make amazing friendships that will last a lifetime, but I also get the opportunity to be around people both younger and older than me.

We’re all such different people, but at the same time a close-knit family (albeit a massive one) where there’s always someone to help you out with whatever you’re going through.

We started coming to Bexleyheath Community Church in November 2008. When we moved into the area, we searched the internet for a church where we could grow spiritually as well as serve God, while praying to God for direction.

It was the first church we visited and as we felt God’s presence at the service, we knew this was where God wanted us to be – we’ve been members ever since.

Bexleyheath Community Church is a great place to worship, where we can grow spiritually, and where we can serve God as well as the community, as many local people attend the church’s various weekly activities.
